Deep Plane FaceLift Surgery

Deep Plane Facelift is one of the most advanced facial rejuvenation techniques in modern facelift surgery. Unlike traditional facelift procedures that primarily tighten the skin surface, deep plane facelift surgery focuses on repositioning the deeper facial support structures responsible for facial aging, tissue descent, jowl formation, and loss of jawline definition. By restoring these deeper anatomical layers rather than creating excessive tension on the skin, the procedure aims to achieve more natural, balanced, and long-lasting facial rejuvenation.

As facial aging progresses, not only the skin but also the deeper facial tissues gradually descend. The brows become heavier, the cheeks lose support, the midface descends, jowls become more visible, and the neck gradually loses youthful contour. Deep plane facelift surgery addresses these changes by repositioning deeper facial structures, including the SMAS layer and retaining ligaments, in a more anatomical way.

Broadly speaking, deep plane facelift techniques can practically be divided into two categories depending on the patient’s anatomy, degree of aging, and surgical goals;

1- Endoscopic deep plane facelift techniques performed through smaller and strategically hidden incisions using endoscopic visualization. These procedures aim to achieve comprehensive facial rejuvenation with less visible scarring.

2- The second group includes more traditional open deep plane facelift approaches performed through classic incisions around the ears. These techniques may be preferred in selected patients with more advanced skin laxity, heavier facial tissues, or situations requiring more extensive neck correction.

Both approaches are based on the same core philosophy: restoring youthful facial support through deeper anatomical repositioning rather than superficial skin tightening alone.
