Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to reshape and elevate the breasts by removing excess skin and repositioning the breast tissue. Over time, factors such as aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, and gravity can lead to sagging and loss of firmness. A breast lift restores a more youthful, lifted, and proportionate breast contour.

In addition to lifting and reshaping, a breast lift can also result in a reduction of breast volume due to the removal of excess skin and tissue. The procedure focuses on repositioning the nipple and areola to a more ideal anatomical position while restructuring the breast for a firmer and more balanced appearance.

This is a scar-based procedure, and different incision techniques are selected depending on the degree of sagging and the desired outcome. Common incision patterns include around the areola, a vertical “lollipop” incision, and the inverted T (anchor) technique. Each method is chosen carefully to achieve optimal shaping while keeping scars as discreet as possible.

A breast lift can be performed as a standalone procedure or combined with implants when additional volume and upper pole fullness are desired. The goal is to create natural, well-balanced breasts that align with the patient’s body proportions and expectations.

Beyond aesthetic improvement, a breast lift can also enhance comfort and confidence, especially in patients experiencing significant skin laxity or asymmetry. Each procedure is individually planned to achieve elegant, long-lasting, and natural-looking results.

Quick Facts

  • Does a breast lift increase breast size?

A breast lift reshapes and elevates the breasts and may result in a slight reduction in volume. If more fullness is desired, implants can be combined with the procedure.

  • Will there be visible scars?

A breast lift is a scar-based procedure. The type of scar depends on the technique used, such as around the areola, vertical (lollipop), or inverted T. Over time, scars typically fade and become less noticeable.

  • Can I combine a lift with implants?

Yes, many patients choose to combine a breast lift with implants to achieve both improved position and increased volume, especially in the upper part of the breast.

  • How long do the results last?

The results of a breast lift are long-lasting. However, natural aging, weight changes, and lifestyle factors can influence the breasts over time.
